Well, it is good to say that we are staying involved. Especially at church. We are really enjoying the services and other activities at our church here in Birmingham. You are welcome to check the link in the sidebar if you have time, the sermons are video loaded each week, but unfortunately, they don't stream the music or you would really be in for a treat! The music program is top notch, and led by Joe Estes (who is a former member of Truth) and a very talented support staff. Joe's wife has been led to start up another youth choir (they haven't had one in a few years.) and Anthony has enthusiastically joined. Anthony is also helping run the sound board for the children's music ministry on Wednesday nights and participates with Children's worship too. (See photo!) He and I had fun dressing up as carnival worker's for a skit introducing the monthly character trait of fairness......fun stuff. Luke enjoys singing and has sung with his class mates twice since we have been here. Bart and I help with Music on Wednesdays and Children's worship too, it's just not that glamorous.
Luke couldn't stand it anymore and practically insisted on being baptized. He prayed and asked Jesus into his heart this past summer and we had an ongoing dialogue about being baptized. He was ready, but had thought he wanted to wait until we could go back to Virginia and have Pastor Jack do it. But he just couldn't wait and so he talked to our Children's Minister about it and was baptized that next week. It is so heartwarming to see how earnest he is. He truly is the example of what Christ meant when he said "unless you come as a little child..." We are very proud of him.
Anthony, in addition to being so helpful with the children, has committed to attending the youth's mission trip to Dallas this summer. I am so excited to see his increasing interest in the youth group, he has struggled getting involved since we moved and still doesn't have a solid base of friends. This opportunity should help with that.
I hope you are challenged to use the talents and gifts God has given you to serve Him. I know that the more we serve, the more we are blessed!
